Is vacation really over?! I can’t even believe it!! This last week FLEW by!!! As much as I love living in the mountains, a part of me will always belong at the beach. Is it possible to have both mountains & beach in your backyard?!:)

I ate SO MUCH food, spent the day reading on the beach, playing cornhole/bocce ball/volleyball and enjoying time with Matt’s family. Our house was in Salvo, NC; a cute little town on Hatteras Island. While we loved being on the island, due to Hurricane Arthur our time at the beach was cut shorter than originally planned.

Hurricane Arthur swept through Hatteras Island on Thursday night, and we were forced to evacuate on Thursday morning. We tried to make the best of the trip by going to Matt’s brother’s home in New Bern, NC for the last few days. I am SO GLAD they opened up their home to us, so that we could spend more time together. Because of the distance & crazy schedules, we’re not together as much as we’d all like to be, so I’m glad we could still spend an entire week together. My nephew Nathan was the entertainment for the week… he’s 15 months old & by far the cutest kid ever. I know I’m biased, but he really is adorable & so, so smart!!! He loves giving kisses, pointing out tools in his tool box and his giggles are contagious. Matt and I constantly joke that our kids have A LOT to live up to because Nathan has both the brains AND the cuteness factor:)

 

We spent the 4th enjoy yummy seafood, watching fireworks in New Bern & envying the Spanish Moss on the trees:) I’m slowly getting back in the swing of things… I’ve a lot of emails to respond to, along with a few other things on my to-do list… my goal is to have my inbox clear tomorrow, so I really, really appreciate your patience!!!
