Is anyone else a little shocked that it’s December 21?! I can hardly believe it’s so close to Christmas and so close to the start of another year. Time really did FLY by this year!!!
This past weekend was a wonderful weekend at home; we hosted some friends over for dinner, had my family in town for a little Christmas-fun, and spent a relaxing Sunday watching football & eating too much junk food! Matt’s officially on Christmas break (yay for the teacher-life!), so this week we’re spending a few days at home before heading to our family for the holidays.
If you’re anything like me, it can be incredibly hard to take time to relax this holiday season. It’s so hard for me to “shut it off” and stop thinking about my to-do list for a few days. I know so many boss ladies who have decided to take a 2 week hiatus and I’ll admit, I’m a tad bit jealous!! Honestly, I’m not sure I could press pause on my inbox or my business to-dos for 2 solid weeks…
I don’t say that with pride. In fact, I had to gasp at myself when I realized how I appalled I felt at the idea of truly “letting go” for 2 weeks.
I’m getting ready to dig into my 2016 Powersheets and I’m most excited & equally terrified to search through that area of my life. Is working hard a bad thing? Not at all! Is growing a business evil? Definitely not!! We all have dreams we’re striving for and goals we’re working toward… in fact, if we SHOULD have those things!!! But it’s when we allow them to control our hearts and minds that we have a problem.
I want to challenge every single one of you who feels like I do. Maybe you’re not physically able to “check out” for the next 2 weeks due to deadlines and prior commitments. But I’m willing to bet you can dedicate SOME time to intentional, focused time with family and friends. I want to encourage you to do that. Leave your phone at home. Don’t even take it with you!! Put up that auto-responder and STICK TO IT – don’t even check your inbox for that given time!! Tune out, so that you can tune in.
That’s the best Christmas gift you can give yourself, your business and your family this year; who’s with me?
xo! kat
