It’s amazing how much can change in one year! And it’s amazing how QUICKLY one year can fly by!! The saying “A year from now you’ll wish you had started today” rings SO TRUE in my life (and yours!).
We let the FEAR of starting get in the way of even BEGINNING. 365 days ago I was in day two of owning DSE… crazy, right?! I had NO CLUE what I was doing!!! NONE!!! I didn’t understand how to get a Tax ID number or register as an LLC. I didn’t have ANY clients. I didn’t having a workflow system or marketing strategy and I had NO CLUE had to price myself!! I was slowly making friends with other small business owners and just TRYING. And that’s the first step, y’all. Just start DOING. Things WILL happen.
I remember a few years ago when the pastor of our church left to start a church-plant in FL. Our new pastor started and Matt and I immediately felt a connection with him & his family; they’ve become great friends & last year he married us:) One evening Matt and I were over for dinner & he was telling us about their move from NC to VA, and how much he prayed about whether he should take our church pastoral position. He said that they never felt God say “go”, but they never felt Him say “no”. So they just started moving.
He knew that God would re-direct his path if he wasn’t moving in the way the Lord planned, and since he wasn’t hearing ANY direction from God, he just started moving. That mindset has left a HUGE impression on my heart, y’all. So often I want God to send me a burning bush or write on a billboard the exact choices I need to make. And He never does!! Sure, there are decisions in my life that are easier made then others because I feel God pulling me there; but it doesn’t always happen that way!! Instead of sitting around waiting for the burning-bush-that-will-never-come or living in fear of making WRONG choices… we just have to start moving.
You are going to make mistakes. Your going to hit dead ends & road blocks. Owning a business is hard work!! Sometimes you’re going to feel dazed & confused with no direction. That’s okay!! That is NORMAL!!! Just don’t give up. Keep moving. I can promise you this: one year from now you will regret it if you don’t.
