I can’t believe our long weekend has come and gone!!! I was going to try to get this post up yesterday, but in typical “first day back from vacation” fashion, the day got a little hectic!!
Last week, I left for Charleston with my intern Hope and my sweet friend Ally. We made the 8 hour drive and got down there with enough time to wander around at dusk, enjoy a delicious dinner and grab ice cream at Jeni’s (the BEST)! Charleston is alway so full of LIFE and I love that about the city!! Brightly colored homes add to the charm and give it a very distinct feel!
Friday we traveled over to Boone Hall for the wedding rehearsal; I had been previous for a venue walk through, but I don’t think you can go back too many times – this place is STUNNING!!! (Yes, this was Ali’s summer home in The Notebook and the shot Forest Gump running down the driveway!) After the rehearsal, the girls worked with me on 32 centerpieces, 7 bouquets, 78 bud vases and a few other smaller arrangements! It was INSANE, y’all!!! Our hotel room was COVERED in flowers!!!! I am SO proud of them for rocking it out and SO THANKFUL they could help me – I could not have done it without them!!!
The wedding day was one of the most detail filled I have ever done. This bride thought of EVERYTHING! Matt flew down and helped with both clean-up and set-up, and I’m grateful we had an additional pair of hands. Our feet were dying by the end of the long day, but it could not have been any more perfect!! Here are a few iPhone shots I snagged!
After the wedding, Ally & Hope heading back to Virginia while Matt and I stayed down in low country! We walked around Charleston on Sunday (Rainbow Row, anyone?!), went to the aquarium (so much fun!), grabbed frappucino’s and hit the road to Savannah!
We booked a hotel in historic downtown on E. Bay Street, and I HIGHLY recommend that location!!! We could walk to everything and had a killer view of the river!! We also had a rooftop pool:) We ate SO MUCH AMAZING FOOD, took a trolley tour around the city, did a walking ghost tour late at night and all in all enjoyed the beautiful character Savannah has to offer!
Savannah and Charleston are two very different cities, thought not too far apart! Charleston has more hustle and bustle; seemingly more tourists, busy streets, high end shops and large brightly colored homes! Charleston very much seems like a city, with southern charm mixed in! Savannah had more a small-town feel! Oh it was still busy, with plenty of shopping and restaurants and so much history!!! But the way the city was built (into squares around with ample green space), added a “home-y” feel and I fell in love! I loved the cobblestone of River Road and hope Matt and I can visit again soon!
I’m off to Charlottesville for a venue visit today, then it’s floral designs on the agenda for the afternoon! June is HERE and that means 5 more incredible weddings before this 12-in-a-row stretch is done. I can’t wait to see these spring brides say ‘I DO’!!
xo!! kat
