I have never been a “camper”. I attended an overnight camp when I was younger and LOVED it… canoeing, hiking, swimming… I would have so much fun!! And even though where we “lived” during the week at camp was “rustic” (no AC, community showers, bunk beds, etc.), it was a house with a roof. The “house with a roof” part being key:)
I’ve camped a total of 4 times in my life. And every single time has been a pretty crappy experience… the first time I ever camped I was in middle school and I unintentionally put my sleeping bag on a next of chiggers. If you don’t know what chiggers are, that’s probably a good thing. They are HORRIBLE… small, red bugs that get inside of your skin and DRIVE YOU CRAZY. I was covered in them from head to toe; it looked like I had the chicken pox. Obviously for a girl in middle school, it didn’t help my “I’m desperately trying to fit in” stage:)
Anyway, lucky for me, Saturday night’s experience was NOTHING like that first one:) Matt and I met up with friends from college and had such a great time!! We roasted s’mores, played Spades and even though we got next-to-no sleep due to irrational fears of bears, we survived:) We spent Saturday night camping, then hiked/climbed a 7 mile trail on Sunday. Excuse the iPhone quality of the pictures, but I had to document this trip to prove to my family that Matt did, in fact, convince me to go camping:)

our tent vs nick & steph’s … we called ours “the mansion”:)

the fog was crazy!!! it literally felt like we were in the clouds
I’m so happy I have a man who truly pushes me to do things outside of my comfort zone. I know this makes me sounds like a total “girl” but I really hate bugs, y’all!! So sleeping in their home has never, ever been something I’ve longed to do… But he’s teaching me to be adventures (and not be such a “yuppie” girl:) I love that we’re making memories; and even though there’s times I’m nervous or don’t want to do it, I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way:)
xo! kat

Hahaha you’re too cute Kat:) I love camping! I love that campfire smell and just having fun hanging out outdoors with friends. It sucks that I can never go during the spring though because of allergies and I can’t go in the fall because wedding season is crazy:( I’m glad you had a better experience thjs tjme!!!!!
