We’re officially on the road!! I can’t believe we’re gearing up for our FIFTH Creative at Heart Conference on Sunday!!! This is our very FIRST conference to not be on the East Coast. I was nervous about the logistics of a different time zone, an unfamiliar city & one that is so far away… but so far my team is killing it & I can’t wait to be there!!!
When we decided to take C@H to Denver, one of the things I was most nervous about was GETTING everything there!! We have 2 days worth of swag bags for 60 attendees, plus decoration, C@H Shop items and not to mention my own personal clothes, etc.. Because of all that, we decided turn C@H Denver into a 2 week road-trip!! I strategically decided to host Denver over the summer because Matt’s a teacher, so I knew he would have the summer off. Call us crazy, but Pearl (my Ford Edge) is packed to the brim & I’m currently drinking iced coffee from the passenger seat as I type this post!!!
We’ve only made 2 hotel reservations: our 5 night stay in Denver for C@H Round 5 and a 1 night stay in Memphis on the return trip to visit the venue for C@H Round 6! The rest is up in the air and honestly, the planner in me is okay with that!! I thought I’d feel stressed about the unknown, but there’s a lot of freedom in getting in car and driving – just us & the open road (and a car full of conference goodies, ha!)!

Our goal is to forgo chain restaurants (expect for a Starbs or two!)! We want to get the full experience and plan to eat in Diners, Dives, Drive-Ins and fun Mom-and-Pop establishments – small business for the win!!:) We’ll also be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on Wednesday & I love that we’re documenting it with this once-ina-lifetime trip!! Any advice on where to go, what to eat or what to see while we make this journey?! Any tips for spending lots of time in the car?! If I’m seeing you in Denver, I can’t wait to tell you all about the first leg of our journey in person!!:)

Just go with the flow and try not to stress about the small stuff. The car is too small to be upset with one another. Remind me to tell you about the car trip Uncle Steve and I took when we married about a year. We had fun. Make sure you have plenty of music you like and don’t be afraid to stop at kitchy tourist stuff on the way. We especially like National Parks. Enjoy the road. And stop every two hours and switch drivers. Oh, be safe and have fun.
So fun! In KC you have to get bbq! My personal favorite is KC joes (the z-man is so yum!) but you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Also, be sure to stop by the roasterie coffee shop with the giant airplane on top! Drive safe and let me know if you have any questions about the area or need a place to stay!
