February has officially arrived & that means Month 2 of my 6 month Contentment Challenge! (You can view more about my journey here!)
January flew by. Literally FLEW by. I was so busy I don’t think I had time to think about this challenge – that sounds terrible, doesn’t it?! In a way, it was a great “first” month because I was too busy to be tempted:) However I want to move forward knowing I need to be more intentional about my thoughts toward the challenge. I’m not saying I want to be tempted, but I do want to take more time to reflect & grow from this process!
After much thought, I decided to continue on with the challenge of Generosity for Month 2. I have a few more things I want to focus on & accomplish under the theme of Generosity, so I’m making my own rules as I go:)
My Verse of the Month: Hebrews 13:15
“…be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote: God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?” (The Message)
“Let your conduct be without covetousness, be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NKJV)
“… and be content with what you have for He has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (ESV)
My Challenge for the Month: Purge, Give, Repeat I’m continuing with January’s challenge & purging a few more areas of our home; I also did not do our “junk room” yet, so that’s a big priority this month! And because I don’t want to feel like I cheated by repeating the same challenge from January, I am also asking myself to complete another one:)
February is a busy month for me (let’s face it, when do I not have a busy month!). It’s also a month I’ve been nervous about… & kind of dreading. Our first due date is February 25 & I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel like “dooms day”. I’m nervous, anxious, sad… so many emotions revolve around the “would have’s” or “should have’s” of that day. So for February, I also want to focus on His Provisions. I want to be reminded of the times in my life & the seasons in my life, where He has provided in ABUNDANCE – because even if it feels like He’s not right now, I know He is.
In order to do that, I want to make my prayer each day a prayer of thankfulness. I want to boldly proclaim one thing each day that God has done for me & given to me. Whether it me materialistic or eternal – something to be reminded of what I DO have … and how it really is enough. To make it tangible, I’m going to physically write a list of 28 things – since there are 28 days this month:) To keep me accountable, I’ll share that list in March.
What I’m listening to: Elevation Worship and Bryan & Katie Torwalt (along with all three artists from last month – my playlist is constantly on repeat!)
What I’m reading: Wait & See by Wendy Pope, completing the Finding I Am Bible Study by Lysa Terkeurst and New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp (a daily devotional) … I was planning to read Wait & See in January, but ending up reading Grace Not Perfection by Emily Ley with our Contentment Challenge Fbook group! I think our group will be doing The Magnolia Story by Chip & Joanna Gaines, but I also want to read Wait & See!
3 Personal Goals for February: (1) Continue to utilize my gym membership – 5lbs down, yay! (2) Be consistently in The Word each day before work begins – I am terrible at this. (3) Purge our junk room – officially on my calendar for Feb 17, ah!
3 Business Goals for February: (1) Hire a bookkeeper – finally! (2) Finish up all 2016 tax prep & officially submit everything to our accountant (3) Work on my newsletter sequences/funnels for both KS & C@H
What about you? How’s your contentment journey coming along? Did you blog about your February goals; please let it in the comments – I’d love to read it!
