Why every Boss Lady should take a Personality Test

This might seem silly, so I’ll jump right in:)

Last week, I took a personality test through 16 Personalities. It was free and took about 10 minutes to fill out. To be honest, I was skeptical! I struggled to select an answer on some of the questions because “what about those ‘what if’ situations”!! I was also unsure if they could REALLY tell me ALL about my personality through a simple test… Boy was I wrong!!

This personality test was SPOT ON, friends!!! It NAILED me – my weaknesses, my strengths, my relationships… it was so accurate that, as the website says, “it was a little bit creepy”!!

Not only was the test interesting to take, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the details about my personality type. I found it VERY informative and helpful! It hit the nail on the head with my weaknesses and also offered constructive advice for how to avoid those pitfalls. It was also reassuring to hear that areas I feel are my strengths, ARE my strengths! I was also able to read about what career paths people with my personality type tend to have, and understand a little bit more about WHY those career paths are beneficial for my personality type.

So why do I think boss ladies should make it a priority to take the test?

– We are our own boss, therefore our personality plays a HUGE role in our business!! That is a powerful statement, friends. We are CEO, Accountant, Marketing Director, Manager, Human Resources… the list goes on and on!! We wear A LOT of hats, and work really hard to wear them all WELL!! This test allowed me to look deeper into myself and understand WHY I tick the way I do! I was given an “outsiders” perspective on what it’s like to be me, and it was helpful!!! I understand now that it’s in my personality to be a boss lady in the first place, and I understand how I can best overcome my weaknesses!!! Your business is PERSONAL because YOU ARE THE BUSINESS; therefore, you need to understand who YOU are!!

– Understanding your personality characteristics will allow you to communicate with clients in a more professional manner. Now, I am NOT saying that your every day self isn’t always professional!! But let’s face it, when we are talking to potential and/or current clients, we want our game face on!! We want to excel in communicating professionally so that we “wow” them with our fabulous personalities ON TOP OF our services/products!! Reading about my weaknesses, allowed me to see areas I can continue to work on; and reading about my strengths was helpful so that I know where to place MORE emphasis!!

– It will ALSO help you to communicate with your team members!! For those of you who have a team of incredible boss ladies working along side you, understanding how your personality ticks will only ENHANCE your working relationship with your team!! (I asked the ladies of the Creative at Heart Team to fill out a test & share their results with each other!) Team’s function best when personalities are complimenting one another (every heard of “opposites attract”?!); taking a personality test and then sharing the results with your team members will only add to your working relationship!! I suggest you AND your team take the test to best understand how to communicate and operate a business together!
