The last few weeks I’ve been brainstorming about things I can do to make more of an impact. As I’ve been getting ready for DSE’s 1st birthday I guess you could say I’ve gotten a little sappy… this time last year, all of this was just a dream. I was getting ready to jump into launched DSE and I was terrified!!! Isn’t it crazy how much can happen in one year?!

I started the Dinner Dates series because I wanted a way to connect with other creatives. I want to blog about my business struggles & reach out to others who are going through similar things. But I’ve come to realize that this isn’t enough… while I LOVE this series (and it’s not going anywhere!), I want to do a little bit more.

I also LOVE getting to know you via email, but it’s not enough either! I don’t have enough time in the day to give everyone who emails me an authentic & detailed response… even though I WANT too!! And I get so frustrated with that!!! Emails pile up, my time dwindles down & you’re left waiting way longer than I wanted you to before I can respond.

So I started brainstorming. I started throwing ideas out to friends to get feedback & asking you on instagram your opinion, too. And I’ve come up with a solution I’m pretty excited for:)

DSE One-On-Ones

90 minute Skype sessions dedicated to you, your big dreams, your crazy fears & your budding business. Are you a new business owner looking for practical information paired with encouragement to dream bigger? Have you owned your business for a while but you feel like you’re in a rut & need to shake things up? Do you have big dreams of owning your own creative business but you don’t know where to start? This would be perfect for you.

We can talk social media, blogging, time management, growing your portfolio, styled shoot tips, client experience, balancing a business while working full time… whatever you want!! I want to help you grow. I want to see you succeed. I want you to BELIEVE that you can do it. Because I know you can.

Spots are limited since I’m only planning to offer 3 per month. Times are flexible (late nights, early mornings… trust me, I understand busy schedules and will make this 90 min slot fit whatever time frame you need!!). And I want this to be affordable for you. Owning your own business is not only scary due to big dreams & big fears, it’s scary due to finances. Everything is so expensive, right?! So I want to help on that end, too. DSE One-On-Ones will be 90 minutes for $99.

ALL sessions will be done via Skype at a time slot set up between Kat & client. (You can also buddy-up with a friend if that makes you more comfortable! Email me for information on that!) Payment plans are available if need be – 50% at signing, 50% day-of. And lots of laughter, tears & heartfelt conversation are sure to be present.

In celebration of DSE turning 1 on October 1, I’ll be giving away 2 free Skype sessions for the month of October!!:) Leave me a comment telling me your big dream & what extra push you need to make it a reality. Winners will be chosen at random and announced on Monday.

Interested but feeling nervous? Email me. Let’s chat:) dearsweetheartevents@gmail.com

Can’t wait to hear from you:)

YAY! So happy about this! I can’t believe it’s been ONE YEAR for you — congrats!! (Big and famous in one year! That’s amazing.)

My big dream is to offer stationery as far as the eye can see AND an extraordinary experience! But with a full-time job, I need tips on how to offer that, while working, and still having some sanity! As a full-time working gal yourself, I think we could click and you could tell me how you managed to make your dream take off! (Laughter and ice cream included, of course.)

Eek! I am seriously so excited for you!

  2. Hillary says:

Congratulations Kat! What an exciting year.

I’ve recently launched my own business as a professional organizer. My heart is to help people love their homes! My challenge is how to find clients who are in need of my services. I’d love to hear about how you’ve built your client roster and connected with brides!

  3. Annmarie says:

Kat, have you really only been in business for one year?! I remember starting to follow you last November and I can’t believe it’s been such a short time because you’re so inspirational! I can’t wait to grow our business relationship and friendship!

I’m moving into a season of change in my own businesses, and I really just want to offer a well-rounded experience. From the very first meeting, I want my clients to feel how important it is to have a unique and memorable experience from booking to their engagement session through boudoir and their wedding.

As a designer and planner, your eye for detail far out reaches mine and I just need you! I need your flair for beautiful gifts, personal touches, and practical knowledge. I have already more than benefitted from knowing you and I’d love to extend that connection to my clients!

I am so excited for you and DSE’s birthday! It has been so fun to watch you grow and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for you and your business!

    Xoxo

Hi Kat, it’s so awesome that you’ve only Ben in business for one year but have accomplished so much. I could only hope and pray that my business make can be as successful a year from now. Even from the minimal emails that we’ve exchanged so far it’s already been a great help and given me great insight knowing that this crazy idea of mine could actually work!
As a new business owner starting out still working full-time I just need help with doing the balancing act along with giving my all to land clients. Just starting out I’m seeing that it can be hard to actually land a client so I’m thinking that maybe I’m not marketing myself and my services the right way. I’m looking for ways that I can peak the interest of potential brides and increase my blog following the brides can learn more about who I am.

I look forward to chatting with you soon and I know great things will happen for myself and I also wish you much continued success with your business too!!

    Sasha

  5. Congratulations Kat! A year into business and you have achieved so much and are doing so well! As we say in Scotland, ‘Gaun yersel.’

I feel like the timing of your launch could NOT have been more perfect! I literally came across your blog via Instagram two days ago and have devoured pretty much every post.

I’ve been running a wedding blog on and off since February with aspirations to become a full-time blogger and wedding planner. Trouble is I’m already holding down a 40 hour job which I need to pay my bills and save for my wedding in 2016. (Sound familiar!?)

As I read through your posts I thought, ‘This girl is living the life I want to live, I need to learn as much as I can from her!’ In particular, how to get the ball rolling and juggle my commitments without becoming totally burned out.

Looking forward to chatting with you!

  6. Jenna says:

    KAT!

I know we have already spoken about this but I cant explain how excited I am for you! You are so inspiring!

My dream is to turn this small business into a reality! And not be afraid to take risks and stop listening to those fears and voices inside my head!

So excited to learn from you!

  7. Jess says:

Yay Kat! This has been such a great year for you! It’s been so refreshing to see what DSE has brought to this industry. You have accomplished so much in such a short time and are such an inspiration to so many people. No matter if someone has been in business for 9 weeks or 9 years, you have so much to offer and anyone would benefit from these one-on-one sessions (including myself – ha!)! Like many, I know I could use some advice about working a full-time job and running a business on the side. I can’t wait to sign up for a session! Happy Birthday DSE! Can’t wait to see what’s in store! xoxo

  8. Brandi says:

Congratulations on one year! You have done SO much with this first year of business.

I would just absolutely love a one on one session with you. I am about to branch out on my own after years working under a wonderful woman, I just feel God is telling me it’s time. I’m terrified and excited, and would love some advice on balance + the first year + and everything in between!

  9. Lauren Rhew says:

How amazing!! Congrats Kat! I can’t wait to see what year TWO holds for you!! :):)

I’m currently transitioning my business model to an online business. It’s a little terrifying to say the least — any change is terrifying!! I don’t know what to expect. I don’t if I’m doing the right things or if I could be doing more. Am I building enough online content? Am I going to be able to do this? I honestly think the “extra push” I need is a cheerleader, as silly as that sounds. I need someone to say “YES, Lauren, you CAN do this!” and to encourage me and brainstorm with me and get excited with me. Ahh, starting a business is so amazingly wonderful and yet so insanely scary all at the same time!

    xoxo

    Lauren

  10. Maria says:

Congrats on a year and a wonderful idea to connect with people! I am a huge gift-giver and wanted to create the perfect little gift for moms, sisters, girlfriends, brides, and bridesmaids that are one of a kind and personal. I am excited to start selling my jewelry and ring dishes but I do work full-time. I also need the most help figuring out all the tricky stuff like finances and taxes! Yikes! 😉

  11. Samantha Jones says:

Oh my stars! Congratulations on one year, Kat! I have loved following your journey on year one and can’t wait to see what is to come in year two. You are a beautiful lady whose heart shines through in every post and event!

I recently started an event planning company in the Charlotte area and have run into a few issues with the local wholesale florist as well as balancing a full-time job (stable salary) with the burning passion to work constantly on my business. I would love to chat with you about your strategies to balance two work worlds, while also having a life!

Sending a BIG hug your way! xoxo

Kat, you are such an inspiration! It is amazing what you have been able to accomplish in 1 year!!! I seriously can’t believe it. My big dream has always been to have my own business & be my own boss. I struggle with how to even get started! Either I don’t feel like I have enough experience/knowledge or it’s juggling how to build a business around our military lifestyle. I know I want this, I just don’t know where to start! It’s so overwhelming. I love your words of wisdom & insight! Sooo excited for next weekend’s wedding!! I’m sure more of your inspiring & can do spirit will rub off. Can’t wait! 🙂
