Business & The Bachelor

#BachelorNation – this one is for you!!!!

Now, I have never been a total bachelor fanatic. I’ve watched the show over the years but usually need to take a break after a few seasons because it becomes a bit much. This season, I’m back after a few seasons away!:) While Ben may not be MY perfect man, I have loved watching his interactions with the contestants this season. I am wholeheartedly “Team Lauren B” and DYING over who he’s going to choose tonight!!!!

Two weeks ago, I was able to watch The Bachelor with Tarah, Hope, Kelly & Andra while we were in Charleston for the RTS Retreat. I LOVED getting to watch the show with these 4 and we had so much fun laughing, shrieking & freaking out over his not one but TWO “I love you’s”!!! Kelly, Andra and I started having a half-joking-half-serious conversation about how the Bachelor relates to business. We emailed afterward and decided that we should make this blog post come a reality! I am so excited to have these two on the blog this morning guest posting about Business & Bachelor… it may see witty, but if you keep reading I think you’ll be surprised at how TRUE these points are!!!:)

Friends! Can you believe it’s already MONDAY!? It feels like we’ve been waiting for this day since, well, Ben Higgins made his debut as THE Bachelor! If you know anything about us, you know that we love ourselves a little [a lot] of The Bachelor/Bachelorette! We look forward to Monday nights so much, we mostly plan our week around this night — and get our wine glasses and yoga pants ready for it!

Since we love The Bachelor, and we love business ownership, we can’t help but think about how much they are alike! Sounds a little crazy, but it’s true! Here’s how:

1) Your first impression is key. Let’s face it, this is super important! What kind of impression are you giving to your prospective Clients? Are you the one jumping into your Client’s arms? (Hello, Caila!) What about making a real statement, and greeting your Clients with a unicorn head? (Umm… JoJo?) In all seriousness, what kind of impression to you want to give to your Clients? The first impression sets the tone for your business, so make sure it’s one you are proud of!

2) You have to be “in it for the right reasons.” Just like the ladies trying to win the love of Ben’s heart, you have to be in business for the right reasons. Fame? Exposure? Those are fading, but love is where it’s at! This is so true for your business as well. Make sure you are in it for the right reasons. For you, this may include serving others, creating freedom, or the excitement of creating something from the ground up. Otherwise, burnout is bound to happen – and you may quit the journey altogether. (We’re talking to you, Lace!)

3) It’s an emotional roller coaster. (AKA Lots of tears, lots of wine.) It’s true. Like The Bachelor, business ownership isn’t for the faint of heart! You’ll have your good days, and you’ll have your bad days… tears and wine are almost expected! Business ownership can often feel like an emotional roller coaster, filled with many ups and many downs.

4) You won’t be the right fit for everyone – you just need to be right for one person. While Ben had his choosing of 28 ladies, he really, only needs one. Just like you, only need one Ideal Client! Marketing your business to serve all is actually doing yourself a disservice. Rather, focus your attention on one. #TeamLaurenB

Now, don’t mind us… We hope the rest of the day goes by really quickly, so we can get our yoga pants on and our wine glasses out… BECAUSE IT’S THE BACHELOR FINALE!!
