2018 Goals // Kat Schmoyer Education

My Goals for 2018 (plus my word of the year!)

Taking time to set goals in your business is one of my favorite & also least favorite tasks. Stepping back to evaluate what worked & what didn’t is so eye-opening… but it can also be exhausting & sometimes even disheartening.

But over the last few years, I’ve learned that in the years where I DON’T step back to evaluate, when I DON’T set goals for the year to come, I’m left floundering around with no sense of direction trying to figure out what happened. I knew towards the end of 2017 that I needed to take time to reflect on it all & set those goals.

In November, I attended her 2 day retreat where the purpose was to dig deep into our personal & business lives & leave with tangible, practical goals for the year ahead.

I left with 10 goals – 3 personal, 3 professional & 2 financial. And not only did I leave with those goals, but I left with 6 milestones per goal to hold me accountable throughout the year & help me achieve each goal.

Today, I want to share my 10 goals with you, and the word of year I chose (this wasn’t apart of her summit but every year I choose a word & I’m excited for my 2018 word!)

Professional:

  • Be organized, intentional & motivated with the content I am sharing online. Don’t just post to post; have intention & strategy behind everything I share.
  • Have a year with less stressful launches. Set quarterly goals & stick to them.
  • Have our most successful C@H launch to date. “Success” looks so different to me now that we’ve hit our eighth conference & I have very specific ways I want this launch, and this conference, to make a difference.

Personal:

  • Celebrate this season of life with Matt. Learn how to take things slow so I can enjoy a babymoon, planning an nursery & starting our family of three.
  • Feel confident in who I am & my body. Don’t compare my pre-pregnancy body to my post-pregnancy body. Stay active, don’t over-purchase clothes when I’m feeling “down” & begin using my Write the Word journal daily.
  • Intentional time with family & friends in this new season of life. Have an “open-door” policy on our home for visitors; plan to have couples-night-out once per month with friends, and share about our new family of three on a family instagram account.

Financial:

  • Have a robust plan for Q1 & Q4 so that Q2 & Q3 can have margin. I’ve never taken a long break in my business… until this year. Our plan is to fire at all cylinders 2 quarters of the year, so that the other 2 can involve baby snuggles & new family memories.
  • Become a better steward of our finances in 2018. Pay off my car by August 2018, focus on saving not spending & set strict spending limits each month (because I have a feeling I’m going to want to go crazy with baby items!).

Word of the Year:

Refresh. This word has been resonating in my heart for months now, and I’m excited to take more time to reflect on what it really means to have a refreshed outlook on life, business & Jesus in 2018.
