How to Attract a Private Estate Wedding Client

This week’s post is a tiny bit different from the usual … in a GOOD way!

Instead of hearing from ME, I asked my friend & fellow wedding planner Keri Ketterer of Always Yours Events to share her tried & true tips for attracting a private estate wedding client!! This girl is my go-to girl when it comes to tented wedding questions, and she’s well aware of how to attract your ideal client (which for her happens to be private estate wedding clients!)! I know what you’re thinking as you read this blog title… what exactly is a private estate couple and why do I want to attract them to my wedding planning business? The private estate couple is an engaged couple hosting their wedding at a private estate or home, and utilizing the outdoors with a tented reception to create a completely personalized al fresco affair. Private estate couples are planning celebrations filled with the intricacies stemming from building a venue from the ground up, yet they are also creating a blank canvas ready for creativity and an awe-inspiring design that will “wow” their guests — and they need YOU to help them to capture their vision and make it into a reality!

As a wedding planner and designer over the last nine years, I have had the pleasure of planning, designing and executing hundreds of events, with at least 115 of them being private estate weddings and celebrations. Three years ago as I was opening Always Yours Events, I realized that private estate and tented weddings had become a source of great joy in my career. I had found that my connection with these couples was on such a personal level, the designs I was creating had very few limitations, and the end result was always a stunning and unparalleled wedding filled with distinctive details. And so I intentionally focused my business’ core values not only on serving all of my couples well, but also providing services that go above and beyond for my private estate couples.

Tented celebrations are a never-ending opportunity to be creative, and a type of event that truly allows planners and designers to stretch their legs and let their talents, abilities and services shine. And since private estate weddings are more intricate with more services required, the client is typically a higher budget bride. With a higher budget and more services required for a private estate wedding, as a planner you are providing a planning package at a higher price point to encompass all needs, which is wonderful for your business!

So, that brings us to the question: how do you market to and attract the private estate couple? Below I have outlined my top four tried, true and actionable ways that I have personally used for Always Yours Events!

  1. Create a Private Estate Wedding Package

The best way to attract any client is to address their key needs and provide them with the solution to fill the void. When attracting the private estate couple, remember that they are in need of a professional that can take the lead, guide them and provide comprehensive services to make their tented wedding vision a reality. Create a package specifically for the private estate couple that services a tented wedding and share an overview of it on your website. This speaks directly to potential couples AND gives them the direct solution to their needs with just a few clicks around your website.

  1. Showcase Your Experience with Tented Weddings

Tented weddings begets tented weddings! Remind potential couples of your experience and abilities to plan tented weddings by sharing photos of your tented weddings (even if it’s just one!) on all of your social media accounts, especially Instagram and Pinterest. And of course include photos of your tented weddings in galleries on your website. Private estate couples are looking experience and confidence in the planner they choose, and giving them the opportunity to see your work and find it easily crucial.

  1. Connect with Tent Vendors

This is one of my favorite tips! Connect with tent rental companies in your region and share with them your business and services. Tent companies client are all private estate couples! Every single one. And they are ALWAYS looking for planners to recommend to their clients. Share with them your Private Estate Wedding Package like I mentioned above, and find out more ways that you can be of service to their clients in search of a wedding planner. You might even end up on their preferred vendor list!

  1. Spend Marketing Dollars Where Private Estate Clients Find Inspiration

Private Estate couples are always looking for inspiration, and they tend to find it on some of our favorite national wedding blogs including Style Me Pretty, Snippet and Ink, Green Wedding Shoes and other publications similar in style. When considering where to spend your marketing dollars, make sure to consider having a listing on one of these outlets that fits your brand’s aesthetic. And don’t stop there! Once you have your listing, submit your tented weddings to be featured on their blog to get images of your tented work circulating, and inspiration from your own weddings in front of potential couples!
